Machel Cedenio ran the race of his life as T&T’s 4×400 metres relay team won the gold medal at the IAAF World Relays in Yokohama, Japan, Sunday.
The other members of the quartet were Deon Lendore, Asa Guevara and Jereem Richards.
In similar fashion to the World Championships two years ago, the Americans were leading by quite a distance before Cedenio pressed the gas in an epic finish for a world-leading time this year of three minutes, point 81 seconds (3:00.81).
He just managed to edge out American anchorman Paul Dedewo, who fell at the finish. The Americans were later disqualified anyway for a lane infringement.
