Webster sprinted to the finish line in 10.52 seconds, which bettered the World Under-20 (10.60), Pan Am Junior Championship (10.61), and Carifta Games (10.74) qualification standards.
The duo of Jaden De Souza of Phoenix Athletics and Mercury’s Miguel Taylor, both clocked 10.70 to secure their Carifta Games tickets as well. The 49th Carifta Games will be held in Kingston, Jamaica from April 16-19.
In the Girls Under-20 100m, Kyah La Fortune of Simplex won in 11.94 seconds which was faster than the Carifta mark of 11.97 to earn her spot on the team to Jamaica while Kayla Caesar (One A Week) got second in 12.45, and Khadija Abraham (Kaizen Panthers), third in 12.47 seconds.
The Boys Under-17 100m top two finishers, Memphis Pioneers’ Jamario Russell (10.99) and Cougars Khadeem Ryan (11.07) both went under the Carifta standard mark of 11.20 with Tyrell Springer of Cougars, third in 11.23 seconds.
Janae De Gannes of Concorde secured a spot on the national team when she won the Girls Under-17 100m in 12.05 seconds, just under the qualification mark of 12.13 while Zenith’s Alexxe Henry (12.38), and Simplex’s Kaziah Peters (12.49) ended second and third respectively.
Cyril Summer of Memphis Pioneers was a qualifier in the Boys Under-20 400m when he won the one-lap event in 48.50, the exact time as the Carifta mark while his Memphis clubmate Rinaldo Moore ended second in 48.68, and Joshua Mascall of FAS, third in 49.22 seconds.
The Boys Under-17 400m produced two qualifiers for T&T, with Burnley’s Kyle Williams (49.42) and Cougars Kaiyin Morris (49.68) both dipping under the 49.98 mark, while Daeshaun Cole of Abilene Wildcats was third in 51.09 seconds.
There were also two more qualifiers in the Girls Under-17 1500m with One A Week’s Aniqah Bailey (4:56.74 mins) and Cougars’ Kayleigh Forde ( 5:01.84), both under the 5:16.40 qualification time, while RSS Phoenix’s Rasheeda Cave (5:42.23) ended third.
And in the Boys Under-20 110m Hurdles, Memphis Pioneers’ Keone John’s time of 14.33 secured tickets to both the Pan Am Juniors (14.35) and Carifta Games (14.46). with Tobago Falcons’ Kai Martin, third in 17.36. The trials continue today at the same venue from 8 am.
