Portious Warren captured the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship women’s shot put title in Arkansas, USA, last Friday. The University of Alabama senior produced a 17.36 metres effort. Warren was 14th in the discus with a 47.12m throw.
A spectacular dive for the line earned Infinite Tucker gold in the men’s 400 metres hurdles. The Texas A&M University student stopped the clock at a personal best 49.38 seconds.
Tucker’s teammate, Tyra Gittens cleared the bar at 1.82 metres for silver in the women’s high jump. She also earned silver in the women’s heptathlon with 5,793 points. And in the long jump, Gittens produced a personal best 6.53m leap to bag bronze.
Dwight St Hillaire picked up silver in the men’s 400m event in 45.47 seconds. The University of Kentucky athlete also competed in the 200m, finishing fourth in the final in a personal best 20.61. Louisiana State University (LSU) student Akanni Hislop was fifth in 20.72. In the 100m final, Hislop finished eighth in 10.23 – a new PR (personal record).
