Ayla Stanisclaus completed the NGC/NAAA National Junior Track and Field Championship girls’ under-20 sprint double in style at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, yesterday, dominating the 200 metres final with a 23.42 seconds run. The Rss Phoenix sprinter was unchallenged for gold, her closest rival, Concorde’s Akilah Lewis clocking 24.03 to take silver. Simplex athlete Leah Bertrand claimed bronze in 24.41.
The 23.42 run earned Stanisclaus qualification for the Pan Am Junior Championships, the 19-year-old making light work of the 23.60 standard. Kelsey Daniel emerged as a double qualifier. The Kaizen Panthers athlete achieved the Pan Am Juniors standard in Saturday’s boys’ under-20 long jump, and did the same in yesterday’s triple jump.
