Jereem “The Dream” Richards and Mauricia Prieto were in winners’ row at the Battle on the Bayou meet in Louisiana, USA, last Saturday.
Richards topped the men’s 400 metres field, the First Citizens Sports Foundation 2018 Sportsman of the Year stopping the clock at 46.15 seconds. And Prieto, a student at the University of Alabama, grabbed women’s 100m gold in a wind-assisted 11.30 seconds.
Another Alabama athlete, Portious Warren threw a personal best 54.62 metres to claim silver in the women’s discus. Louisiana State University (LSU) sprinter Xavier Mulugata was eighth in the men’s 100m dash in a windy 10.83 seconds.
At the Friday Night Spikes meet, in Florida, Semoy Hackett triumphed in the women’s 100m event. She got to the line in 11.56 seconds.
