Deija Reid (Zenith) and Jafari Edwards (Mercury) were the top performers for T&T at the 2023 North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Age-Group Championships at the Barranquita Stadium in Santiago de Caballeros, Dominican Republic over the weekend (July 15-16).
Reid was 13th in the girls’ Under-13 pentathlon with 2,406 points. T&T’s other competitor Ryanna Reid (Mercury) was 24th (2,023).
Edwards also finished in 13th spot in the boys’ U-13 pentathlon (2,860) with Rss Phoenix’s Kerlon Henry in 14th place with 2,760.
Michal Paul (Concorde) also ended in 14th position in the boys’ U-15 heptathlon (4,411). Aaron Ragman (Zenith) did not finish as he did not contest the final event (1,200m).
In the girls’ U-15 heptathlon Makayla Cupid (Zenith) finished in 18th place, tallying 3,329 points. Her club-mate La’ Shiya Biggart bowed out of the competition after the fifth event, the 60m hurdles.
T&T’s mixed U-15 4x100m team of Paul, Biggart, Cupid and Radgman finished in second spot with a time of 47.50 seconds behind Jamaica (45.83). Curacao was third (47.60).
In the mixed U-13 4x100m, T&T’s Edwards, Reid, Regis and Henry placed seventh with a 52.97-clocking.
