Cherisse Murray was in record-breaking form at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships, in Kansas, USA, last Friday. The Central Arizona College sophomore retained her women’s shot put title with a big 16.30 metres effort, bettering the 16.29 championship record established in 2016 by another Trinidad and Tobago athlete, Portious Warren.
Murray produced the new NJCAA Indoor Championship shot put standard in the fifth round of the competition. The 25-year-old thrower also competed in the weight throw, missing out on the podium by just four centimetres. She finished fourth with a 16.75m effort.
