Mauricia Prieto secured gold in the women’s 200 metres event at the 2019 Pepsi Florida Relays in Florida, USA, last Thursday. The University of Alabama athlete got to the line in a wind-aided 22.86 seconds.
Portious Warren, a senior at Alabama, threw a personal best 17.43 metres to earn women’s shot put silver. She was 12th in the discus with a 49.37m effort.
Dwight St Hillaire finished second in section one and third overall in the college men’s 400m event. The University of Kentucky sophomore got home in 45.92 seconds.
Jereem “The Dream” Richards opened his 2019 campaign with a 46.33 seconds clocking in the open men’s 400m. The 2018 First Citizens Sports Foundation Sportsman of the Year finished third. Another Trinidad and Tobago athlete, St Augustine’s University freshman Darren Alfred was 15th overall in 47.44.
