07/07/2023

T&T enjoyed a great day at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in El Salvador with an impressive silverware haul throughout the day on Thursday.

On the track, Jereem Richards and Keshorn Walcott joined the gold rush, topping the podium in their respective events.

“The Dream” as Richards is known, cruised to a personal best time of 44.54 seconds to win the men’s 400 metres gold medal.

Walcott’s best throw of 83.60 metres handed him pole position to claim the men’s javelin event.

The men’s 4x100m relay team consisting of Carlon Hosten, Kion Benjamin, Eric Harrison and Devin Augustine also produced a stunning performance to stop the clock at 38.30 seconds and conquer the competition.

The women’s 4x100m relay team grabbed silver as the quartet of Sanaa Frederick, Akilah Lewis, Reyare Thomas, and Leah Bertrand ran a time of 43.17 in the final.

In Chess, Joshua Johnson shined in his debut at the CAC Games, clinching the silver medal with strategic brilliance.

T&T men’s hockey team added another silver to the medal tally as they went down 5-1 to Mexico in their final at the Parque del Este in El Salvador. Akim Toussaint scored T&T’s lone item in the gold medal match against the Mexicans.

T&T has so far captured 17 medals to date with a combination of (seven gold, six silver, and four bronze).
