Tyriq Horsford and Portious Warren are among seven Trinidad and Tobago athletes who have earned the right to compete in individual events at the June 5-8 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, in Texas, USA.
Horsford produced a big PB (personal best) at the East Preliminary meet, in Florida, on Friday, the Mississippi State University freshman landing the spear 78.78 metres for second spot in the men’s javelin and comfortable qualification for the NCAA Championships. The top 12 progressed to the national meet.
Warren threw 17.96m to top the women’s shot put field. The University of Alabama senior leads all qualifiers into next month’s Championships. She was 15th in the discus with a 52.11m effort, and did not qualify in that event.
