TRINIDAD and Tobago quarter-miler Dwight St Hillaire did not advance past the heats of the men’s 400-metre event at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, on Sunday.
St Hillaire, running in heat four, finished sixth in 46.60 seconds and did not progress.
The first three finishers in each of the six heats plus the next six fastest runners advanced to the semifinals.
American Champion Allison won heat four in 45.56, Dylan Borlee of Belgium was second in 45.70 and Isaac Makwala of Botswana grabbed the third automatic qualification spot when he finished third in 45.93.
Fourth-placed Mikhail Litvin of Kazakhstan was fast enough to earn a spot in the semifinals with a season’s best time of 46.00.
