THE track and field fraternity continues to pay tribute to former TT track and field standout Deon Lendore as the athlete was remembered at the 2022 American Track League Eastern Indoors in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday.
Lendore, a former athlete at Texas A&M, died in a car accident in Texas on January 10. He was 29.
At the time of his death Lendore was a coach at Texas A&M.
A TT track and field uniform was placed on the starting blocks during the 2022 Eastern Indoors in memory of Lendore.
On Twitter the American Track League posted a photo of the uniform and said, “Remembering Deon Lendore at the Eastern Indoors this past weekend. Forever in our hearts!”
Lendore was a top 400-metre runner who represented TT at three Olympic Games.
He was part of the 4X400m quartet which won bronze at the 2012 London Olympics and in 2019 helped TT cop gold in the World Relays in Japan.
Lendore’s funeral has not been held yet as arrangements are being made to fly his body back to TT.
