THREE of the four Trinidad and Tobago gold medallists at Carifta 2019 are listed for action at this weekend’s NGC/NAAA National Junior Track and Field Championships at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.

Shaniqua Bascombe captured the Carifta Games girls’ Under-17 200 metres title in the Cayman Islands on Easter weekend, and is expected to dominate the event at the Hasely Crawford Stadium tomorrow. She is the overwhelming favourite as well in today’s 100m dash. Bascombe is also on the 100m hurdles start list. In that event, she will take on her Cougars clubmate Karessa Kirton and Memphis Pioneers athlete Kayla Caesar.

Devin Augustine struck gold for T&T in the Carifta Games boys’ Under-17 100m event. Though he injured his left hamstring during the final, Augustine came away with an impressive victory. Once he is back to full fitness, the Point Fortin New Jets sprinter should have no problems retaining his national 100m title this afternoon.
