Reigning Commonwealth Games sprint champion Michelle-Lee Ahye opened her 2019 indoor campaign in style at the Fastrak Invitational in Texas, USA on the weekend. The Trinidad and Tobago track star captured the women’s sprint double.
Ahye was the class of the 60 metres field, getting to the line in 7.27 seconds to finish ahead of Jamaican Remona Burchell, the runner-up in 7.31, and American Kenaysia Dixon (7.70).
In the qualifying round, Ahye won heat two in 7.32, while Burchell topped the opening heat in 7.36. In the 200m event, Ahye struck gold in 24.13 seconds.
