Jereem “The Dream” Richards topped the men’s 300 metres field at the Green and Gold Invitational in Alabama, USA, last Saturday. The Trinidad and Tobago track star finished ahead of Jamaica’s Renard Howell (33.44) and American Willington Wright (33.96).

At the DeLoss Dodds Invitational, in Kansas, Safiya John triumphed in the women’s pentathlon with 3,689 points. Her University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff teammate, Clement Campbell was golden in the men’s long jump, disturbing the sand at 7.46 metres.

Another Arkansas at Pine Bluff athlete, Franklyn Stanislaus accumulated 4,362 points for second spot in the men’s heptathlon. Caitlin Ragoonanan and Je-Risa James also produced podium finishes for the school. Ragoonanan claimed women’s triple jump silver with an 11.41m effort, while James returned a time of one minute, 28.98 seconds for bronze in the women’s 600 yards event.

Ragoonanan was fourth in the long jump at 5.43m. And in the women’s 400m, James and Ragoonanan’s twin sister, Chelsea were eighth and 15th, respectively, in 59.59 seconds and 1:01.78.

At the Jayhawk Classic, in Kansas, Pratt Community College’s Che Lara finished second in the men’s 600 yards in 1:14.92. Butler Community College sprinter Jerod Elcock was ninth overall in the men’s 60m dash in 6.89 seconds.

In New Mexico, Emmanuel Callender won the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Invitation-Open men’s 60m event in 6.94 seconds. At the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Collegiate Invitational, Louisiana State University (LSU) sprinter Akanni Hislop finished third overall in the men’s 200m in 21.07. Hislop was 10th in the men’s 60m preliminaries in 6.83, while Callender was 11th, also in 6.83. Another LSU athlete, Xavier Mulugata clocked 7.01.

At the Scottish National Senior Championships, in Glasgow, Che Richards seized silver in the men’s long jump. The T&T athlete produced a 7.62m leap.

David Pierce finished second in the men’s 200m event at the Ed Jacoby Invite, in Idaho, USA. The Boise State University sprinter got home in 21.88 seconds.

At the Dr Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge, in New York, Andre Marcano clocked 6.94 seconds for second spot in the exhibition men’s 60m dash. In the college men’s 60m, Columbia University’s Jahi Hernandez was 15th overall in 6.99. And in the 200m, Hernandez was 27th in 22.32.

In Texas, Semoy Hackett picked up Fastrak Collegiate Invitational women’s 60m bronze in 7.56 seconds. The T&T sprinter clocked 7.61 in the qualifying round. University of Louisiana at Lafayette student Shaquille Singuineau threw 15.56m to claim fourth spot in the men’s shot put.

At the Under Armour High School Classic, in Texas, Taejha Badal finished fifth in the girls’ 60m and 200m events. The Concordia Lutheran High School student clocked 7.55 seconds in the 60 and 24.29 in the longer sprint.

At the Aggie Invitational, in Texas, Tyra Gittens finished sixth in the women’s shot put. The Texas A&M University athlete threw the iron ball 13.51m.

In Boston, Moriba Morain and Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Ako Hislop were 18th and 30th, respectively, in the John Thomas Terrier Classic men’s 200m event, clocking 21.90 seconds and 22.05. Lalonde Gordon was 174th in 23.86. Long Island University (LIU) Brooklyn student Michaela Neils clocked 25.12 for 18th spot in the women’s 200m.

At the M Gulden Invitational, in Pennsylvania, Akil Boisson finished fifth in the men’s 400m in 51.99 seconds. His St Francis University teammate, Marie-Therese Cooper was fifth in the women’s triple jump with a 10.76m effort and eighth in the long jump at 5.10m.

In Kentucky, Rondel Sorrillo clocked 6.80 seconds for fifth spot overall in the Rod Cravy Memorial men’s 60m semis. The T&T sprinter, however, opted out of the final. Jonathan Farinha was 12th fastest at 6.88, and did not qualify for the championship race.

Coppin State University’s Aaron Lewis clocked 7.98 seconds in his men’s 60m hurdles semifinal heat, but was disqualified in the final. University of Minnesota freshman Akilah Lewis produced a 7.56 run to progress to the women’s 60m final, but chose not to run in the championship race. Lewis was 22nd overall in the 200m in 24.84.

Arizona State University’s Jeminise Parris was eliminated at the semifinal stage of the women’s 60m hurdles. She got to the line in 8.68.

At the Red Raider Invitational, in Texas, Ayla Stanisclaus finished ninth overall in the women’s 200m in 24.11 seconds. Her New Mexico Junior College teammates, Jalen Purcell, Aaron Brewster and Onil Mitchell were ninth, 32nd and 40th, respectively, in the men’s 60m, clocking 6.75, 6.98 and 7.06. Another T&T sprinter, John-Mark Constantine was 35th in 6.99. Brewster and Mitchell were 27th and 39th, respectively, in the men’s 200m “B” section. Brewster clocked 22.13 and Mitchell 22.67.
