Taejha Badal finished just off the podium at the New Balance High School National Outdoor Track and Field Championships in North Carolina, USA, on the weekend. The 15-year-old Trinidad and Tobago athlete got home in a wind-aided 23.89 seconds for fourth spot in the Emerging Elite girls’ 200 metres final. She had clocked a legal 24.11 in the qualifying round.
Badal was third in section six and ninth overall in the Emerging Elite girls’ 400m event, the Concordia Lutheran High School (Texas) student completing her lap of the track in 56.44 seconds. And in the Championship girls’ 100m dash, Badal was 20th fastest in the preliminaries in 11.83 seconds. The top eight progressed to the championship race.
