Alena Brooks returned a time of two minutes, 04.41 seconds to secure third spot in the women’s 800 metres event, at the Jamaica National Championships in Kingston, on Saturday. The Trinidad and Tobago runner finished behind Jamaicans Natoya Goule and Jazmine Fray. Goule struck gold in 1:59.50, while Fray earned silver in 2:03.01.

Jonathan Farinha clocked 10.39 seconds for third spot in his men’s 100m qualifying round heat. However, in the international men’s final, the T&T sprinter was disqualified for a false start. Orane Thompson was sixth in heat six in 11.26.

In the men’s 200m preliminaries, Farinha finished second in heat two in 21.31, while Thompson was sixth in heat seven in a wind-aided 22.42.

Janeil Bellille was 13th fastest overall in the women’s 400m hurdles preliminaries in 1:02.85. Bellille also competed in the 200m, finishing sixth in heat three in 25.55 seconds. Jovon Toppin produced a 48.83 run for fifth spot in heat two in the men’s 400m preliminaries. And Renee Stoddard was sixth in heat four in the women’s 400m in 57.56.
