Reigning Carifta champions Tyriq Horsford and Shaniqua Bascombe will lead the charge for Trinidad and Tobago at the July 19-21 Pan American Junior Track and Field Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica. The team of 15 also includes sprinters Akilah Lewis and Ayla Stanisclaus.
At the 2019 Carifta Games in the Cayman Islands, Horsford struck gold in the boys’ under-20 javelin while Bascombe also won gold, in the girls’ under-17 200 metres. Bascombe has also been selected for the July 5-7 North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Under-18 and Under-23 Championships in Queretaro, Mexico
