Lisa Wickham was golden at the Samford Bulldog Open in Alabama, USA, on Saturday. The Tennessee Tech University student stopped the Birmingham Crossplex indoor facility clock at a personal best 7.25 seconds.
Wickham was also the fastest sprinter on show in the semi-final round, getting to the line in 7.27 to win heat one. She had clocked 7.41 in the preliminaries.
Wickham finished sixth overall in the 200m in 24.86 seconds. Her Tennessee Tech teammate, Anya Akili was 21st in 25.85. And in the 400, Akili returned a time of one minute, 00.09 seconds for 22nd spot.
On Friday, at the same venue, Mauricia Prieto secured the Samford Bulldog Invite women’s 200m title with a 24.52 seconds run. University of Louisiana at Lafayette athlete Shaquille Singuineau threw 16.13 metres to finish fourth in the men’s shot put.At the Boise State Challenge, in Idaho, David Pierce earned silver in the men’s 200m in 21.82 seconds. The Boise State University sprinter bagged 60m bronze in 7.01. In the qualifying round, Pierce won his heat with a 6.99 run.
In Virginia, Aaron Lewis seized VMI Indoor Classic men’s 60m hurdles silver in 8.04 seconds. The Coppin State University student won his first round and semi-final heats, getting to the line in 8.04 each time to complete his campaign with the identical clocking in all three races. Another Coppin State athlete, Nku Henry was 43rd in the men’s 400m in 52.74.
And Tonya Nero produced a 16:53.02 run to finish 15th in the Iowa State Classic women’s invitational 5,000m.
