Dawnel Collymore seized silver in the women’s 1500 metres event at the Savannah State Tiger Orange and Blue Outdoor Classic in Georgia, USA, last Saturday. The Benedict College athlete returned a time of four minutes, 50.01 seconds.
In California, Jenea Spinks finished fourth in the Cal Opener women’s 400m. The University of California sophomore completed her lap of the track in 59.40 seconds.
At the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Indoor Track and Field Championships, in South Dakota, Iantha Wright secured fifth spot in the women’s 60m final in 7.51 seconds. The Life University sprinter was 16th overall in the 200 in 25.19. She was also part of the Life 4×4 team that did not finish their heat.
Ian Thomas produced a 6.94 seconds run for 22nd spot overall in the men’s 60m. Thomas was also in action in the 4×4, running the third leg for 15th-placed Oklahoma City University. Oklahoma City clocked 3:20.50.
Wright’s Life University finished 41st in the women’s team competition with four points, while Thomas’ Oklahoma City earned 55th spot among the men with three. William Carey University accumulated 82 points to capture the men’s title. The women’s title went to Huntington University with 77 points.
At the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships, in Boston, Jahi Hernandez finished third in his section and sixth overall in the men’s 200m finals. The Columbia University freshman got home in 21.58 seconds.
Ako Hislop got to the line in 6.96 seconds for seventh spot in the men’s 60m final. The Fairleigh Dickinson University sophomore clocked 6.90 in the semis and 6.92 in the preliminaries. And Long Island University Brooklyn student Michaela Neils was 19th in the women’s 200m in 24.95.
At the Jet Relays outdoor meet, in Oregon, Shaiann Charles finished sixth in the women’s discus with a 35.93 metres throw. The Wiley College junior produced a 9.11m effort for 19th spot in the shot put.
