T&T’s Special Olympian Omari Patterson picked up his second medal of the Berlin Games in Germany, on Friday, a silver in Equestrian.
Patterson placed second in the Level BI English Working Trails D03 final with a score of 84.000 to finish behind Italian Enrica Andreozzi with 91.000 and ahead of Lisa Preiss of Germany with 79.000.
Patterson also copped silver in the D03 final of the BI English Quitation on Thursday, after placing second with 68.750 points.
Aaron Ben Ali competed in the Level BI English Working Trails D06 final and placed fifth among the seven finalists. Ali, who nabbed gold in the BI English Quitation (D06) final, scored 79.000.
In athletics, Melissa Nanan was the most successful among T&T long jumpers in the Level C category.
The 26-year-old secured a bronze medal in the women’s Division F05 final with 1.66m. Nanan finished third after registering the leap in the third and final rounds, following marks of 1.34m and 1.39m in the first and second rounds, respectively.
Tershana Tempro, 21, also represented T&T in the women’s category and she finished eighth in the F02 final. She was best in the final round, leaping to 1.84m. Earlier, Tempro opened with 1.73m before fouling in the second attempt.
In the men’s competition, D’Andre McGuirk was a seventh-place finisher in the M04 Division final. McGuirk, The reigning bronze medallist in the mini javelin Level B event best leap of 2.18m came in the third round.
Nathan McClean reached the M02 Division final and placed eighth. He produced his beat attempt in round two which measured 2.43m after opening with 1.96m and closed with a 2.15m-leap.
Across at the pool, Special Olympian swimmer Donovan Garib placed sixth in the final of the men’s 50m butterfly Level A. Garib, swimming in lane two, touched the wall in a time of 34.47 seconds in the MA02 final.
This after finishing fifth in heat three with 33.45 in semifinal heat three to reach the medal race. Earlier in the quarterfinals, Garib, in lane two, was a fourth-place finisher in the second of three heats with a 34.46-clocking.
T&T’s other swimmer Shania Surujbally did well to reach the final in the women’s 50m freestyle Level A final (FA04) but was disqualified.
T&T Special Olympians have won 11 medals thus far at the Berlin Games.
