STORMING GREAUX

30/09/2019

A storming late run from Kyle Greaux earned the Trinidad and Tobago sprint star a lane in today’s IAAF World Championship men’s 200 metres final. Lane eight to be exact.

Coming off the turn in the third and final semi-final heat, Greaux looked a beaten man. But the 2018 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games bronze medallist found another gear on the straight, moving from sixth to second to secure automatic qualification for the championship race.

“I felt confident I could reel them in,” Greaux told the Express, “but nonetheless it was a bit disappointing because I had a game-plan and unfortunately I wasn’t able to execute it. In the final, however, you need to have your stuff to a tee.”

A lot went wrong for Greaux in the first half of the race. A slow reaction to the gun, a troublesome knee, and fast-starting Canadian Andre De Grasse on his inside very nearly combined to cut short the Sangre Grande athlete’s Doha 2019 half-lap campaign.
