Shaniqua Bascombe produced a golden run at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Under-18 & Under-23 Track and Field Championships in Queretaro, Mexico, yesterday, the Trinidad and Tobago sprinter stopping the clock at 24 seconds flat to capture the girls’ under-18 200 metres title.
Bascombe outclassed her rivals, getting to the line well ahead of Canadian Jillian Catton, the silver medallist in 24.37. Bermuda’s Caitlyn Bobb clocked 24.53 for bronze. Another T&T athlete, Leah Bertrand was fifth in 24.79.
