All three of T&T’s 200 metres men runners and the lone female 200 metres runner, qualified for the semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham Games in England this morning.
Mauricia Prieto was the first on the track running in Heat 5 of the Women’s 200 metres event.
Running in Lane 5, she placed 4th in the event, but her time of 23.69 was enough to qualify as one of the non-automatic qualifiers.
Dwight St Hillaire ran in Lane 4 in Heat 1 of the Men’s 200 metres and was second to Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme.
St Hillaire clocked a time of 20.85 to qualify for the semis.
Next up was Jereem Richards in Heat 5 running in Lane 5, which he won comfortably in a time of 20.68.
Kyle Greaux rounded off T&Ts 200 metres performances with a 2nd place finish in Heat 6.
Running in Lane 6, he clocked a time of 21.01 to qualify automatically.
The semi finals take place tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Tyra Gittens jumped a height of 1.76 metres in Group A of the Women’s High Jump to finish 7th, just outside the qualification spots for the next round.
