JEREEM Richards qualified for the men’s 200-metre final at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
On Tuesday, the Trinidad and Tobago athlete finished third in semifinal two in 19.86 seconds. Semifinal two was the fastest of the three heats as four athletes qualified for the final.
The top two in each of the three semifinal heats qualified for the final automatically along the next two fastest runners.
Richards finished behind the American pair of Noah Lyles (19.62) and Kenneth Bednarek (19.84).
South African Luxolo Adams was fourth in 20.09 and also booked a place in the final.
In semifinal one, Dominican Republic’s Alexander Ogando won in a national record of 19.91 and Joseph Fahnbulleh of Liberia took the second automatic qualification spot when he ended second in 19.92.
In semifinal three, American Erriyon Knighton won in 19.77 and Canadian Aaron Brown was second in 20.10.
The final will take place at 10.50 pm TT time, on Thursday.
